March Cornerstone: Positivity
Recognizing the Box
One crucial concept for positivity is recognizing how we see others. Sometimes we fall into the trap of seeing others as problems, challenges, or obstacles instead of seeing them as people. The book Leadership and Self Deception describes this as being "in the box" with them.
We can recognize when we're in the box by paying attention to the stories we tell ourselves about the other person or ourselves. When we describe others in terms of the problems or challenges they are creating for us, we know we are in the box.
As difficult as it may sometimes feel, we can start to step out of our boxes by telling ourselves a different story about the other person or asking ourselves why they may be acting in ways that create challenges for us. When we intentionally strive to see others--especially those that are creating challenges for us--as people and not as objects or challenges, we push negativity away from our mindset and replace it with positivity
It is time for our annual parent engagement surveys. The information that you share in these surveys is incredibly important in helping guide the decisions that we make. We want and need you to be honest and candid in sharing your experiences with us.
Weekly Schedule
We are currently evaluating new instructional resources for Kindergarten through 3rd grade in reading & writing. The materials that we are evaluating are Core Knowledge Language Arts provided by Amplify.
All materials are available to view in the District Office (3497 N Ammon Road) on Monday through Friday from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
On Monday, our D93 Live featured representatives from Amplify who answered questions from our teachers and families about these instructional resources. If you missed it, you can watch the D93 Live below.

D93 Board News
Special Education Programs tour recap
This week marked a special occasion for our school district's Special Education (SPED) program as they welcomed members of the D93 Board of Trustees. Their visit aimed to deepen their understanding of the varied and comprehensive support our district offers to students with special needs. Touring our facilities, the Trustees engaged directly with our educators and staff, observing the innovative and personalized approaches that make our SPED program stand out. A memorable moment was when members from the Board joined in singing "Happy Birthday" to a student at Thunder Ridge, highlighting the warm, inclusive community spirit. This visit reinforces D93’s dedication to ensuring every student receives an exceptional education tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.
Next: Board Meeting is on April 10, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the District Office Board Room. The public business portion of the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.
