Great Things Happening
BHS Senior Earns Perfect Score on the ACT
Bonneville High School Senior Analee Grover scored a perfect 36 on her ACT college-placement test last spring. East Idaho News featured Analee in their Terrific Teens series story in June.
CYA Idaho Recognized with Engage Every Student Award
In July, I had the opportunity to travel to Washington DC to participate in the recognition of Idaho Youth Community in Action. In 2018, Becky Leatham worked with youth and community members in Idaho Falls to found CYA Idaho, a network of support for youth in our community through after school and summer classes and programs. Representing CYA Idaho, Becky and Michele Watson were recognized by Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona for this work to "Engage Every Student." It was an awesome opportunity to be part of this recognition. To learn more about the work that CYA Idaho does, go to cyaidaho.org.
A Summer of Progress: Construction Updates in D93
Summer in Bonneville Joint School District 93 has been anything but quiet. The district has been bustling with construction activity, driven by several community-funded projects aimed at modernizing facilities and enhancing the learning environment for students and staff.
New Cafeteria at Ammon Elementary
One of the standout projects is the new cafeteria at Ammon Elementary. This historic school, which first opened its doors in 1936, is set to receive a much-needed upgrade. The new cafeteria is designed to better accommodate the student body and provide a modern, efficient space for meal times. The construction team has been hard at work, and the project is on track for completion in January. This upgrade is a significant step in ensuring that Ammon Elementary can continue to serve the community effectively for years to come.
New Bus Garage for the District
In addition to the cafeteria, another major project is the construction of a new bus garage for the district. This facility is crucial for the maintenance and storage of the district's fleet of buses, ensuring that transportation remains safe and reliable for all students. The new garage is also expected to be completed by January, providing a state-of-the-art facility that will support the district's transportation needs well into the future.
Roof Replacement at Ammon Elementary
Ammon Elementary, with its storied history, is also undergoing another significant renovation. Workers are actively replacing the roof, addressing years of wear and tear on the building that predates the formation of D93 by more than a decade. This essential maintenance work is crucial to preserving the structural integrity of the school and ensuring a safe environment for students and staff.
Future Plans: New Elementary School
Looking ahead, the district is preparing to break ground on a new elementary school in just a few weeks. This upcoming project is part of the district's ongoing efforts to expand and modernize its facilities to better serve the community. More details on this exciting development, along with updates on all community-funded projects, will be featured in future editions of our newsletters.
A Commitment to Designing Success for Every Student
The busy summer of construction in D93 highlights the district's commitment to providing high-quality education in modern, well-maintained facilities. These projects, funded by the generous support of the community, are a testament to the shared dedication to the future of our students. As we look forward to the completion of these projects and the start of new ones, we are reminded of the importance of continual investment in our schools and the lasting impact it has on our community.
Stay tuned for more updates in our upcoming newsletters as we continue to track the progress of these exciting developments. The future is bright for D93, thanks to the continued support of our community.
